Flux House Presents #1

Flux House Presents #1 was released in 2022 as a cornerstone title for the Flux House imprint, established by graphic novelist Jeff Lemire. The series was designed as a creative laboratory for Lemire, allowing him to curate and publish experimental projects that exist outside the constraints of traditional mainstream comic book editorial cycles. The first issue serves as a mission statement for this independent publishing venture, emphasizing creator-owned narratives and a distinct visual aesthetic that prioritizes atmospheric, hand-crafted storytelling.

The design and production of this issue reflect Lemire’s signature minimalist, charcoal-heavy artistic style. In launching the series, the intent was to revisit a more tactile, intimate approach to comics, focusing on singular artistic visions that lean into noir and surrealist tropes. Upon its debut, the collection was well received by critics and long-time fans of Lemire’s work, who praised it for its clear departure from corporate superhero models and its commitment to the auteur-driven spirit that has defined his career.
