Fujisan Daifunka: Senryokugai Nintei Sareta Ossan Kaishain Mochizane ga Tenpenchii de Nariagari!? #1

Fujisan Daifunka: Senryokugai Nintei Sareta Ossan Kaishain Mochizane ga Tenpenchii de Nariagari!? is a manga series that emerged from the modern subgenre of disaster-themed isekai and survival storytelling. The first volume introduces the protagonist, Mochizane, a middle-aged corporate employee who finds himself cast aside by his company just as a cataclysmic eruption of Mount Fuji plunges Japan into chaos. The narrative blends the tropes of the weary salaryman archetype with high-stakes survivalist drama, reflecting contemporary anxieties regarding economic instability and the fragility of urban infrastructure.

The series design and thematic execution are characteristic of current seinen manga trends that prioritize the perspective of overlooked, older individuals in extreme circumstances. By placing a character deemed surplus by society into a scenario where his experience becomes a rare asset, the creators challenge the traditional focus on youthful heroes. The artwork emphasizes the scale of the volcanic event to contrast with the protagonist's mundane background, a stylistic choice intended to ground the spectacle in the relatable perspective of an ordinary office worker.
