Fushigi Yûgi: Byakko Senki #3

Fushigi Yûgi: Byakko Senki is the latest installment in Yuu Watase’s long-running fantasy franchise, which originally debuted in the early 1990s. This series focuses on the Priestess of Byakko, Suzuno Osugi, delving into the lore previously hinted at in the original work. The narrative is set against the backdrop of the Taisho era, blending historical atmosphere with the high-stakes celestial mythology that established the series as a seminal work in the shojo fantasy genre.

Yuu Watase designed this series to provide a definitive conclusion to the overarching legends of the Four Gods. With the third volume, Watase maintains her signature balance of intricate character development and emotionally charged stakes, themes that have been central to her artistic identity for decades. The work is received as a sophisticated expansion of the original mythos, aimed at long-time readers who have followed the complex journey of the Priestesses across various iterations.
