GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class #1

GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class, or GA Art Design Class, began serialization in the Japanese manga magazine Manga Time Kirara Carat in 2004. Created by the artist Satomi Mikuni, known under the pseudonym Satou, the series was designed to offer a lighthearted, slice-of-life perspective on the daily routines and creative struggles of students attending an art-focused high school. The first volume collects the initial chapters that introduce the five main characters, establishing a grounded aesthetic that balances academic life with genuine artistic curiosity.

The series is noted for its clean, accessible art style and its emphasis on the technical aspects of art education, ranging from color theory to design principles. Satou intended for the work to function as both an entertaining narrative and a reflection of the creative process, a goal that resonated with readers who appreciated the mix of comedy and studio realism. Upon its release, the manga was well-received for its gentle atmosphere, eventually leading to a dedicated following and an anime adaptation in 2009.
