GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class #5

GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class, serialized in Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Carat from 2004 to 2016, follows the daily lives of five students at a specialized art high school. Volume 5 was released in 2008 as part of the series' successful run, which focused on the intersection of technical art education and the lighthearted, often humorous interactions between classmates. The manga explores artistic concepts through the perspective of high schoolers, balancing educational nods to art history and techniques with slice-of-life storytelling.

Created by the artist Satomi Mikuni, known professionally as Satomi Uki, the series is defined by its clean, expressive character designs and a soft, inviting aesthetic that mirrors the creative environment of the protagonist's school. Uki’s approach was to demystify art school culture, presenting it as a space for both growth and social bonding. Upon its release, the series was well-regarded for its gentle tone and consistent quality, eventually inspiring an anime adaptation that helped cement its place as a staple of the seinen manga subgenre.
