Generation X #57

Generation X #57, published in 1999, emerged during a transitional period for the X-Men franchise as Marvel Comics sought to refine the tone of its younger mutant team. Written by Jay Faerber with artwork by Terry Dodson, the issue continued the series' focus on the daily lives and interpersonal dramas of the students at the Massachusetts Academy. This specific run is often noted by fans for maintaining the character-driven narrative established by earlier creative teams while navigating the evolving continuity of the late nineties Marvel Universe.

Terry Dodson’s contribution to the visual identity of Generation X remains one of the series' most distinct features. His clean, expressive line work and ability to balance high-stakes superhero action with the quintessential 'teen angst' aesthetic were instrumental in defining how the characters appeared during this era. Critics and readers frequently revisit these issues to appreciate Dodson’s influence on the aesthetic trajectory of the X-Men's teenage spin-off titles, which sought to distinguish themselves from the more traditional superhero team dynamic.
