Gøg og Gokke #197416

Gøg og Gokke, the Danish translation of the Laurel and Hardy comedy duo's name, became the title for a long-running comic book series published in Denmark. The 197416 issue, appearing in late 1974, follows the established tradition of reprinting classic American newspaper comic strips and original European-produced stories featuring the slapstick pair. These comics were central to bringing the legacy of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy to a new generation of Scandinavian audiences, serving as a staple of post-war popular culture.

The visual design of these comics focused on capturing the iconic physicality of the duo, often utilizing art styles influenced by the original American syndication artists. During the 1970s, the editorial direction prioritized a mix of nostalgic appeal and accessible humor, ensuring the stories remained recognizable to fans of the films while fitting into the broader European comic book market. The reception was consistently favorable among younger readers and film enthusiasts, cementing the series as a durable fixture in Danish newsstands for decades.
