Gøg og Gokke #42

Gøg og Gokke was a long-running Danish comic book series dedicated to the comedic duo Laurel and Hardy. Published primarily during the mid-20th century by PIB (Presse-Illustrations-Bureau), the series adapted the iconic slapstick routines of the films into a serialized format. Issue #42 is representative of the mid-period of the title's production, a time when the series relied heavily on licensed scripts and visual gags that maintained the duo's popularity in Scandinavian markets long after their primary film career had peaked.

The visual style of the publication was defined by its straightforward, functional paneling, designed to mirror the rhythmic timing of the original cinematic shorts. While the specific illustrators for individual mid-series issues like number 42 were often freelance staff or studio artists working under the direction of PIB, the design ethos remained consistent: to provide lighthearted, accessible entertainment for younger readers. The series was well-regarded for successfully translating physical comedy into static illustration, ensuring the characters remained cultural fixtures in Denmark for decades.
