Ghost Manor #5

Ghost Manor number 5 was published in 1972 by Charlton Comics during the height of the Bronze Age of horror anthologies. Like many titles from the publisher during this period, it served as a low-cost, newsstand-distributed publication that relied on a rotation of talent to produce tales of suspense, the macabre, and supernatural retribution to compete with the popularity of E.C. Comics reprints and similar genre offerings.

The issue features artwork and narrative contributions characteristic of the Charlton house style, which prioritized efficiency and atmospheric mood over the high-gloss aesthetic of its competitors. The stories within follow the classic host-narrated format, intended to provide readers with quick, punchy thrills rather than long-form character development. It remains a notable example of 1970s independent horror comics, favored by collectors for its campy cover art and the distinct, gritty visual identity that defines the era's smaller publishing houses.
