Ghost Rider #84

Ghost Rider #84 was published in April 1983 as the final issue of the original Danny Ketch-era comic book series from Marvel Comics. This conclusion marked a significant turning point in the character's publication history, as the series had spent years exploring complex supernatural themes and the transformation of its protagonist. It arrived during a period where Marvel was tightening its editorial direction, leading to the temporary retirement of the Ghost Rider title after a long run of occult-focused storytelling.

The issue features the creative work of writer J.M. DeMatteis and artist Bob Budiansky, who were tasked with providing a sense of closure to the ongoing narrative arcs. Their approach favored character-driven emotional beats over traditional superhero action, reflecting the darker, more atmospheric tone that defined the mid-1980s era of the series. Upon its release, it was regarded by readers as a somber but necessary farewell to the character's long-standing status quo, solidifying its place as a cornerstone for collectors of Bronze Age supernatural comics.
