Where it came from
Published by Marvel Comics in 1975, Giant-Size Werewolf #3 arrived during a decade-long fascination with horror-themed comic books, fueled by the relaxation of the Comics Code Authority's restrictions on supernatural creatures. As a quarterly publication, the 'Giant-Size' line was designed to provide readers with expansive storytelling and reprints, allowing writers and artists more room to develop the darker, gothic atmosphere prevalent in the Jack Russell saga.
This issue features cover art by Gil Kane and interior work by writers such as Doug Moench, who were instrumental in shaping the character's tragic and grounded tone. The series was met with moderate critical attention for its blend of traditional superhero dynamics and classic monster horror, though it remains a niche piece of Marvel's 1970s experimentations with shifting genre trends.
