Godzilla vs. America: San Diego #1

Godzilla vs. America: San Diego #1 was published by Dark Horse Comics in 1999 as part of a limited series exploring the iconic kaiju's encounters within the United States. Following the acquisition of the Godzilla license, Dark Horse sought to capitalize on the character's enduring legacy by placing him in recognizable American urban settings, a departure from the traditional Tokyo-centric narratives of the Toho films.

The series was written by Eric Luke and featured artistic contributions intended to capture the massive scale and destructive nature of Godzilla. While the project aimed to merge American comic book storytelling sensibilities with Japanese monster movie tropes, it received a mixed reception from fans of the franchise who were accustomed to the established film continuity, leading it to remain a distinct, self-contained experiment in the broader Godzilla comic bibliography.
