Grit n Gears #2

Grit n Gears #2 emerged during the mid-2010s as part of an independent anthology series focused on the intersection of industrial aesthetics and steampunk-inspired narrative art. The series was developed by a small collective of illustrators and writers seeking to explore grit-heavy, mechanical themes through a distinctively tactile visual style. Each issue was designed to serve as both a sequential story and a showcase for intricate, gear-focused machinery, emphasizing hand-drawn textures that contrasted with the increasingly digital nature of graphic fiction at the time.

The art style of the second issue was defined by a commitment to heavy linework and monochromatic palettes, intended to evoke the feeling of early twentieth-century engineering manuals. The creative team aimed for a rugged, utilitarian aesthetic that prioritized mechanical clarity over ornamentation. Upon its release, the issue was noted by independent comic critics for its atmospheric world-building, though it remained a niche publication primarily distributed through specialist comic shops and convention circles.
