Guǐ Miè Xué Yuán! #2

Guǐ Miè Xué Yuán, known in English as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, began its serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 2016. Written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, the series tells the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who becomes a demon slayer after his family is slaughtered and his sister is transformed into a demon. The second issue continues the early narrative established in the premiere, focusing on Tanjiro's rigorous training under the tutelage of Sakonji Urokodaki.

The art style is noted for its distinctive blend of traditional Japanese woodblock-inspired aesthetics and dynamic, modern action sequences. Gotouge’s work was initially praised for its emotional depth and unique pacing, which helped the series gradually build a dedicated readership before its eventual global phenomenon. By the release of the second volume, the narrative foundations regarding the harsh realities of the Demon Slayer Corps and the complex morality of the demons were firmly set, establishing the emotional stakes that would define the franchise's long-term success.
