Hellboy: Weird Tales #7

Hellboy: Weird Tales was an anthology series published by Dark Horse Comics beginning in 2003, designed to showcase the character of Hellboy through the lenses of various guest creators. The project grew out of Mike Mignola's desire to expand the Hellboy mythos beyond his own solo work, providing a platform for writers and artists to explore stylistic interpretations of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense. The series was intentionally experimental, allowing for tonal shifts that ranged from gothic horror to lighthearted adventure.

The seventh issue featured a notable contribution from writer and artist Mike Mignola alongside other industry talents like John Severin. The aesthetic was a deliberate departure from the standard Hellboy ongoing titles, prioritizing diverse visual storytelling methods that highlighted the flexibility of the character's design. Upon release, the anthology was well-received by fans of the dark fantasy genre for its ability to maintain the core essence of the character while fostering creativity among an rotating roster of contributors.
