Hōkago, Boku wa Kimi ni Naru #3

Hōkago, Boku wa Kimi ni Naru, translated as After School, I Will Become You, is a manga series written and illustrated by mangaka Yuuji Moritaka. This third volume continues the story within the context of early 2010s Japanese youth drama, focusing on themes of identity and personal development during the transitional period of adolescence. The series was designed to explore the nuances of human relationships through a grounded, slice-of-life narrative style that resonated with readers interested in character-driven storytelling.

The publication of the third volume fits into the broader landscape of seinen and shonen-adjacent manga that prioritize emotional introspection over high-octane action. Yuuji Moritaka sought to capture the quiet intensity of school life, a goal reflected in the deliberate pacing and understated character designs throughout the volume. Upon its release, the series was received by its core audience as a contemplative addition to the genre, praised for its focus on the internal shifts of its protagonists rather than dramatic plot twists.
