I'm in Love with the Villainess #8

I'm in Love with the Villainess, or Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijou, began as a light novel series written by Inori and illustrated by Hanagata. The series emerged from the popular web novel platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō, gaining significant traction for its subversion of traditional otome game tropes. It follows the protagonist, Rei Oohashi, who finds herself reincarnated into her favorite game, where she chooses to pursue the villainess, Claire Francois, rather than the male leads.

The eighth volume serves as a critical entry in the serialized manga adaptation illustrated by Aonoshimo. This adaptation is noted for its character-driven approach, balancing the comedic elements of the original web novel with the high-stakes political intrigue and emotional development of the later story arcs. Upon release, the series has been praised for its nuanced exploration of class dynamics and LGBTQ+ themes within the fantasy genre, solidifying its place as a staple of modern yuri literature.
