Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #2

Released in 2013 as part of the broader Invincible Universe expansion, this limited series explores the origins and violent odyssey of the fan-favorite character Battle Beast. The series was crafted to flesh out the character's mysterious past, moving away from his role as a secondary antagonist in the main Invincible title to center him in his own cosmic, action-driven narrative within the Image Comics stable.

The series was written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Nate Bellegarde, who sought to maintain the high-octane, visceral aesthetic established by the main series while injecting a distinct sense of scale and otherworldly brutality. The issue reflects the collaborative spirit of the Skybound imprint, receiving a generally positive reception from readers who appreciated the deeper exploration of the character's warrior code and the brutal art style that defined the era of Invincible spin-offs.
