Iron Man #87

Iron Man #87 was published in June 1976 during a transitional period for the title. Following the departure of long-term writer Mike Friedrich, the series was navigating the mid-1970s Marvel era, a time when the character of Tony Stark was increasingly defined by his internal conflicts and the mounting stresses of his dual identity. This issue continues the series' exploration of corporate intrigue paired with costumed heroics, maintaining the established aesthetic of the bronze age of comics.

The issue features artwork by George Tuska, a stalwart contributor to Iron Man throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Tuska’s style provided a consistent, grounded visual language for the character, focusing on clean lines and clear action sequences that defined the look of the series for many years. It was received by readers of the time as a standard installment in a long-running superhero procedural, contributing to the steady, reliable world-building that kept the Iron Man title a consistent staple of the Marvel lineup.
