Iron Man Epic Collection: Demon in a Bottle #1

The Iron Man Epic Collection: Demon in a Bottle is a trade paperback volume that reprints a seminal arc from the late 1970s, specifically issues #120–128 of The Invincible Iron Man. These stories, originally published in 1979 and written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton with art by John Romita Jr., are widely considered the definitive Iron Man narrative. They marked a significant shift in superhero storytelling by focusing on Tony Stark’s battle with alcoholism, humanizing a character previously defined by his technological prowess and corporate image.

The volume is designed as part of Marvel's Epic Collection line, which was established to provide long-term, chronological archival reprints of classic series in an accessible format for modern readers. The cover art often utilizes the iconic imagery of the original issues to emphasize the gravity of the storyline. The collection has been well-received by fans and critics alike, valued primarily for preserving the transition of Iron Man from a standard adventurer to a deeply flawed, relatable protagonist facing personal demons alongside his supervillain adversaries.
