Jagten på Tidsfuglen #5

Jagten på Tidsfuglen, known internationally as La Quête de l'oiseau du temps, represents a cornerstone of European fantasy comics. The series was created by writer Serge Le Tendre and artist Régis Loisel, first appearing in the early 1980s. Issue number 5, titled L'Ami Javin, serves as part of the second cycle of the saga, which functions as a prequel to the original four-volume story. This cycle was designed to flesh out the backstories of the iconic characters Pelisse and Bragon, maintaining the intricate, high-fantasy world-building that made the original run a landmark in the Franco-Belgian medium.

The artistic direction of the second cycle maintains Loisel's lush, detailed aesthetic, characterized by an organic and often whimsical approach to creature and landscape design. While Loisel oversaw the visual identity, the later volumes frequently incorporated collaborative efforts to match the established style. Upon release, this continuation was received as a respectful expansion of the series' mythology, satisfying long-term fans who had waited years for further exploration of Akbar's world. It remains a definitive example of how complex fantasy narratives can be effectively extended through prequel storytelling.
