Justice League of America #243

Justice League of America #243, published by DC Comics in October 1985, arrived during a transitional era for the publisher. This issue was part of the final stretch of the long-running original Justice League series, which concluded shortly thereafter to make way for the character-shuffling events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths. The narrative, written by Gerry Conway with art by Luke McDonnell and Bill Wray, captures the late-Bronze Age aesthetic that favored ensemble dynamics and interpersonal friction among the League members.

The cover and interior art reflect the house style of the mid-1980s, balancing the traditional superhero tropes of the Justice League with the looming editorial shifts that would soon redefine the DC Universe. As a late-series entry, it is often viewed by collectors through the lens of continuity, serving as a functional piece of the bridge between the classic Silver Age iteration of the team and the grittier, more modern interpretations that followed the 1986 reboot.
