Kabe-Cir Dōjin Sakka no Nekoyashiki-kun wa Shōnin Yokkyū wo Kojiraseteiru #1

Kabe-Cir Dōjin Sakka no Nekoyashiki-kun wa Shōnin Yokkyū wo Kojiraseteiru, or Nekoyashiki-kun's Desire for Recognition is Twisted, is a manga series by creator Mimokara that first began serialization in 2021. The narrative follows a doujinshi artist struggling with the psychological pressures of his craft and his complex relationship with a former schoolmate who is now a rising idol. It serves as an exploration of the creator-fan dynamic and the insecurities inherent in the subculture of independent manga production.

The character design and visual direction are tailored to emphasize the contrast between the grimy, solitary nature of the artist's studio and the polished world of professional entertainment. Mimokara utilizes a sharp, expressive art style that highlights the protagonist's internal neuroses. Upon its release, the series garnered attention for its relatable portrayal of the creative process and the social anxiety that often accompanies public-facing artistic work, leading to a live-action adaptation.
