Kami ni Aisareta Ko #1

Kami ni Aisareta Ko, serialized in the manga magazine Bessatsu Friend, emerged from the shojo manga landscape of the early 2000s. The series was crafted by artist Miwa Ueda, who was already well-known for her successful work on Peach Girl. This issue marks the beginning of a narrative that explores themes of identity, social dynamics, and the complexities of high school relationships, delivered in the emotive, high-contrast visual style characteristic of Ueda’s dramatic storytelling.

The design and illustration reflect the aesthetic trends of the era, focusing on expressive character features and intricate layouts that emphasize emotional tension. Upon its release, the first volume was received as a natural follow-up to Ueda's previous hit, appealing to a dedicated readership interested in the nuanced character arcs that define her work. It stands as a representative example of the commercial shojo manga genre during a period when these stories were increasingly influential in shaping teen-oriented media culture.
