Kanpeki de Saikō no Watashi ni Horenai no wa Tennen Baka na Omae no Sei! #1

Kanpeki de Saikō no Watashi ni Horenai no wa Tennen Baka na Omae no Sei!, often referred to as Kanpeki de Saikō, is a light novel series written by Mitsuha and illustrated by U35. Published under the GA Bunko imprint, the first volume arrived in the early 2020s, tapping into the contemporary popularity of the romantic comedy genre within the light novel market. The series focuses on the dynamic between a self-proclaimed perfect protagonist and a naturally oblivious peer, centering its narrative on the trope of accidental romantic tension.

The character design and illustrations were crafted by U35, an artist noted for their clean aesthetic and ability to capture expressive, emotive character portraits that define the modern light novel visual style. The work was developed to appeal to readers of school-based rom-coms, balancing humorous misunderstandings with the earnest development of the central relationship. Upon its release, it found a niche among fans of the 'tsundere' and 'airheaded' character archetypes, consistent with the competitive landscape of light novels published in Japan.
