Katy Keene Pin-up Parade #6

Katy Keene Pin-up Parade, published by Archie Comics during the 1950s, served as a dedicated showcase for the character created by Bill Woggon. The series emerged from the immense popularity of the original Katy Keene feature in Wilbur Comics, which invited readers to submit their own fashion designs for the character to wear. This interactive element fostered a unique bond between the publisher and its audience, positioning the series as a blend of traditional comic storytelling and a collaborative fashion portfolio.

The visual identity of issue number 6 reflects Bill Woggon’s signature style, characterized by clean lines and an emphasis on glamour and stylized apparel. Woggon, who began his career in animation, brought a sense of movement and flair to the paper-doll-inspired layouts that defined the publication. Upon its release, the series was well-received by a devoted demographic of young readers who treated the pages as a creative resource, often cutting out the outfits to utilize the character as a paper doll as the publisher intended.
