Where it came from
Kisetsu no Kuni no Kemonotachi, which translates to 'Beasts of the Land of Seasons,' is a manga series created by the artist known as Natsume. Debuting as a serialized work, the series occupies a space within the fantasy and folklore-inspired manga genre, focusing on the intersection of seasonal shifts and mythical creatures. It was developed to capture a sense of atmospheric storytelling that emphasizes visual world-building, utilizing a character-driven narrative to explore themes of nature and transformation.
The design of the first issue reflects a deliberate aesthetic choice to prioritize soft, illustrative linework that aligns with the series' ethereal tone. Upon its release, it gained attention for its distinct artistic direction, which moved away from more conventional action-oriented tropes of the time. While it remains a niche entry in the broader landscape of contemporary manga, it has been noted by enthusiasts for its stylistic cohesion and the evocative nature of its panel layouts.
