Kiss Hug: XOXO #1

Kiss Hug: XOXO #1 was released in 2010 as part of a creator-owned series written and illustrated by Franco Aureliani and Art Baltazar. The project emerged during a period when the duo was highly regarded for their work on all-ages titles for major publishers, leading them to develop this specific property through their own independent creative outlets to explore themes of romance and humor with their signature minimalist, expressive aesthetic.

The design of the issue centers on a stripped-back, whimsical visual style that prioritizes character emotion and comedic timing over complex linework. By stripping away intricate backgrounds and focusing on the playful interaction between characters, the creators aimed to make the storytelling accessible to a broad audience. Upon its release, the title was received as a charming departure from traditional superhero tropes, lauded for its lighthearted tone and the clear, rhythmic pacing characteristic of the creators' established brand.
