Koi ni Niteru to Omotta no #1

Koi ni Niteru to Omotta no, serialized in the Japanese manga magazine Bessatsu Friend, represents a quintessential entry in the shōjo romance genre that gained significant traction in the early 2010s. Created by mangaka Aya Shouoto, the work explores the delicate emotional landscapes of young protagonists navigating the complexities of nascent affection. It emerged during a period when the genre was leaning heavily into themes of high-school introspection and the subtle, often transformative, power of first love.

Aya Shouoto is noted for her ethereal, detail-oriented artistic style, which emphasizes expressive character designs and atmospheric paneling to capture the internal moods of her subjects. The first issue was designed to establish the series' signature tone—a balance of lighthearted teenage interaction and poignant, wistful realization. Upon its debut, the series was received by readers as a comforting and aesthetically pleasing contribution to the slice-of-life romance category, grounding its emotional stakes in the relatable mundanity of the classroom setting.
