Kōkoku Gaisha, Danshi Ryō no Okazu-kun #7

Kōkoku Gaisha, Danshi Ryō no Okazu-kun, written and illustrated by Yuu Hayashi, began serialization in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2018. The series focuses on the daily lives and culinary experiments of four men living in a corporate dormitory, blending workplace comedy with detailed depictions of home-cooked meals. It emerged from a growing genre of 'meshi-manga' or gourmet manga, which emphasizes the communal and emotional aspects of food preparation and consumption among colleagues.

The seventh volume continues the series' established tone, maintaining a focus on simple, accessible recipes that contrast with the pressures of advertising agency work. Hayashi designed the series to be an approachable slice-of-life narrative that balances the technicalities of the protagonists' careers with their shared evening rituals. The work has been noted for its grounded, relatable characters and for highlighting the therapeutic role that cooking plays in the lives of urban workers in Japan.
