Leonide the Vampyr: The House of Yonda #2

Leonide the Vampyr: The House of Yonda is a gothic horror comic book series created by Mike Mignola and Christine Larsen. Published by Dark Horse Comics, the series emerged from Mignola's established interest in folklore and the macabre, expanding his creative universe into a more stylized, atmospheric exploration of Victorian-era vampirism. The project is notable for its deliberate departure from traditional superhero archetypes, focusing instead on mood, suspense, and a distinctive visual vocabulary rooted in the creators' signature artistic sensibilities.

The series design is heavily influenced by the collaborative artistic dialogue between Mignola, known for his stark shadows and bold lines, and Larsen, whose work brings a fluid, ornate quality to the storytelling. The visual approach was intended to evoke classic horror literature and silent film aesthetics, aiming to create a sense of timeless unease for the reader. Upon its release, the series was received by the comic book community as a sophisticated, niche work that prioritized illustrative depth and narrative economy over high-octane action, earning praise for its cohesive aesthetic and dark, fairytale-like quality.
