Les grands classiques de la littérature en bande dessinée #48

The Les grands classiques de la littérature en bande dessinée series was launched to adapt seminal works of world literature into the graphic novel format, aiming to make canonical texts more accessible to a broad readership. Issue number 48, specifically, continues the collection's mission of bridging classic prose with the visual language of European comics, a popular publishing tradition in the French market that emphasizes pedagogical value alongside artistic interpretation.

The design of these volumes typically adheres to a standardized format that prioritizes clarity and narrative fidelity, employing various contemporary illustrators who work within a classical representational style. These editions were generally well-received for their utility in educational settings and as a nostalgic vehicle for readers revisiting literary staples through a different lens, fitting into the wider landscape of post-war Franco-Belgian comics that sought to elevate the prestige of the medium.
