Lilith: Blood & Burlesque #1

Lilith: Blood & Burlesque #1 was released in the early 2000s by Lady Death creator Brian Pulido under his Chaos! Comics imprint. The series was designed to explore the darker, gothic sensibilities of the supernatural genre, leaning heavily into theatrical aesthetics and stylized violence. It emerged from an era where independent publishers often experimented with provocative themes and high-contrast, edgy character design to distinguish their titles from the mainstream superhero market.

The visual language of the issue was heavily influenced by the pulp horror traditions of the late 20th century. The creative team aimed to blend high-glamour burlesque motifs with occult storytelling, a hallmark of Pulido’s broader body of work during this period. While the series received attention for its bold stylistic choices and distinct niche appeal among fans of gothic horror, it remains a characteristic example of the hyper-stylized independent comic landscape that defined much of the publisher's output during the late nineties and early aughts.
