Lords of the Ultra-Realm #2

Lords of the Ultra-Realm #2 was published during the late 1980s as part of a short-lived independent fantasy-adventure comic series. The title emerged during an era when smaller publishers were attempting to capitalize on the burgeoning market for sword-and-sorcery comics that blended traditional high fantasy with cosmic, science-fiction elements. The series was designed to showcase an expansive, multi-layered mythology, though it struggled to maintain a consistent audience against the dominant industry heavyweights of the period.

The creative direction for the series focused on intricate, high-contrast ink work and dramatic panel layouts intended to convey epic scale. Much of the aesthetic was influenced by the underground fantasy art movement, prioritizing imaginative creature design and world-building over conventional superhero tropes. While the series garnered a modest following among collectors of independent press comics, it is now primarily remembered as a curious artifact of the independent comic boom, noted more for its distinctive art style than for widespread narrative impact.
