Marvel Team-Up #26

Marvel Team-Up #26, published in October 1974, emerged during a pivotal era for Marvel Comics as the publisher sought to leverage its stable of characters through team-up dynamics. The issue features a pairing of Spider-Man and Black Widow, a recurring thematic staple for the series which aimed to foster crossover interest among readers. By positioning the wall-crawler alongside established heroes, writers could explore different tones and stakes that were distinct from the solo adventures found in The Amazing Spider-Man.

The creative team for this issue included writer Gerry Conway and artist Ross Andru, two figures central to the 1970s Marvel aesthetic. Andru’s work on the title was noted for its dynamic layouts and ability to capture the kinetic energy of Spider-Man in combat, while Conway’s scripts focused on maintaining character continuity within the constraints of a single-issue narrative. The issue was received as a standard but solid entry in the series, reflecting the period's commitment to consistent, serialized world-building.
