Marvel Team-Up #7

Marvel Team-Up #7 was published in March 1973 as part of a series designed to pair Marvel's flagship character, Spider-Man, with a rotating cast of heroes to broaden narrative scope. This specific issue features a collaboration between Spider-Man and the X-Men, a team that was being reprinted during this era while awaiting their 1975 revival. The story explores a clash with the mutant villain Morbius the Living Vampire, reflecting the darker, supernatural tone that was infiltrating comic books following the relaxation of the Comics Code Authority regulations.

The issue was written by Len Wein and illustrated by Gil Kane, a veteran artist known for his dynamic, kinetic action sequences. Kane’s approach was instrumental in defining the visual language of the 1970s Marvel aesthetic, prioritizing fluid anatomy and dramatic perspective. While the title itself was initially viewed by some critics as a gimmick to bolster sales for lesser-known characters, it became a significant vehicle for establishing crossover continuity within the Marvel Universe and remains a quintessential example of bronze-age character integration.
