Marvel Two-in-One #44

Marvel Two-in-One #44, published in October 1978, emerged during a peak era for Marvel's team-up titles, which allowed the company to pair its marquee characters with secondary figures to boost visibility. This specific issue features a creative collaboration between writer Ralph Macchio and artist Sal Buscema. The narrative centers on a confrontation between the Thing and the Sandman, fitting the series' established formula of pitting Ben Grimm against various members of the Marvel rogues' gallery or fellow heroes.

The cover and interior art by Sal Buscema reflect the house style of the late 1970s, characterized by dynamic action sequences and a heavy reliance on the expressive, textured character work that defined his long tenure at the publisher. At the time of its release, the issue was received as a standard but reliable entry in the Marvel catalog, serving as a functional piece of continuity that maintained the Thing's status as a central pillar of the publisher's expanded universe during the Bronze Age of comics.
