Mary-san wa Koyoi mo Tsunagaritai #1

Mary-san wa Koyoi mo Tsunagaritai is a contemporary manga series that emerged within the landscape of modern digital-first publishing. The series explores themes of isolation and the pervasive nature of digital communication, reflecting broader shifts in how individuals seek connection in an increasingly virtual world. As a premiere installment, this first issue functions as both an introduction to the protagonist's internal struggle and a visual commentary on the distance between people in the smartphone era.

The character design and visual direction prioritize a sharp, atmospheric aesthetic intended to contrast the protagonist's loneliness with the high-energy, cluttered interface of mobile technology. The artwork was crafted to feel intimate, drawing the reader into the quiet, often claustrophobic spaces the characters inhabit. Upon its release, the series garnered attention for its relatable depiction of social anxiety and the nuances of digital-age interactions, positioning it as a distinct entry in the slice-of-life genre.
