Mind MGMT: New & Improved #4

Mind MGMT: New & Improved launched in 2022 as a direct sequel to Matt Kindt's critically acclaimed original series, which explored the operations of a clandestine government agency staffed by psychic spies. This series was designed to revisit the fractured world of the Mind Management program, utilizing the signature meta-narrative storytelling and intricate, hand-painted watercolor aesthetic that Kindt established in his earlier work. It reflects a shift toward exploring the aftermath of the original series while maintaining the paranoid, espionage-thriller tone that has defined the franchise since its debut.

Matt Kindt, who both wrote and illustrated the series, crafted this issue to serve as a continuation of the complex, non-linear mysteries involving rogue agents and reality-altering powers. The design of the series intentionally bridges the gap between traditional comic book storytelling and an experimental, puzzle-like reading experience, often incorporating hidden messages in the margins and endpapers. Upon release, it was received as a respectful expansion of the series' lore, praised by critics for maintaining the high visual standards and dense, layered plot structure that garnered the original series numerous Eisner Award nominations.
