Morbius: The Living Vampire #3

Morbius: The Living Vampire #3 was published in late 1992 as part of the initial solo series for the character, who had previously spent decades as a recurring antagonist and supporting player in Marvel Comics, most notably within the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man. This series emerged during a period of intense popularity for anti-hero and supernatural archetypes in the early 1990s, riding the wave of the company's efforts to capitalize on the character's long-standing cult following.

The issue features cover and interior work consistent with the dark, gritty aesthetic championed by Marvel's 'Midnight Sons' imprint, which focused on the publisher's occult-themed roster. The creative team aimed to lean into the tragic, gothic elements of Michael Morbius's condition, framing his hunger as a constant, desperate struggle against his humanity. While the series did not reach the heights of the mainstream superhero titles, it succeeded in establishing the internal tone and lore that would define the character’s independent narratives for years to come.
