Nightwing #87

Released in late 2021 as part of the ongoing Nightwing series written by Tom Taylor and illustrated by Bruno Redondo, this issue garnered significant critical acclaim for its ambitious formal execution. The narrative focuses on Dick Grayson's efforts to improve Blüdhaven, but the issue is best known for its experimental layout. Redondo designed the comic as a series of connected, seamless panels that appear as a continuous long-shot or single-take sequence, creating a unique visual flow that emphasizes the character's acrobatic nature and fluid movement through the city.

The reception was overwhelmingly positive, with many critics and fans highlighting the issue as a high-water mark for modern superhero storytelling. The creative team aimed to push the boundaries of the digital and print medium, utilizing the 'infinite canvas' aesthetic to immerse the reader in Nightwing's perspective. It has since become a frequently cited example of how contemporary DC titles can successfully blend traditional character-driven drama with innovative graphic design, earning multiple industry award nominations for its technical artistry.
