Oda-chan to Akechi-kun #7

Oda-chan to Akechi-kun is a shōjo manga series created by the artist Koko. It belongs to a genre of lighthearted, historical-fantasy romantic comedies that gained popularity in Japanese manga magazines during the late 20th century. This series specifically imagines historical figures Oda Nobunaga and Akechi Mitsuhide as students in a contemporary school setting, trading their violent Sengoku-era rivalry for the domestic and social dramas of modern adolescence.

The seventh volume continues the established narrative rhythm of the series, focusing on the stylized, chibi-influenced character designs that define Koko's work. The series was designed to appeal to younger readers through its humorous subversion of heavy historical tropes. Reception of the series was largely concentrated within the niche shōjo demographic, appreciated for its consistency in tone and its whimsical approach to the well-trodden legends of the Azuchi-Momoyama period.
