Ohenro-chan! #2

Ohenro-chan! #2 is part of a niche manga series centered on the Shikoku Pilgrimage, a historic journey involving eighty-eight temples across the Japanese island of Shikoku. The series was designed to serve as both an entertaining narrative and a gentle, accessible introduction to the traditions and geography of the pilgrimage for a younger or casual audience. By anthropomorphizing the experience through the character of Ohenro-chan, the creators aimed to bridge the gap between ancient spiritual practices and contemporary pop culture.

The illustrative style utilized in this volume follows the conventions of modern Japanese character-led manga, prioritizing clean lines and expressive, approachable aesthetics. As a localized publication, the series occupies a specific space in the landscape of regional tourism-themed media. Its reception is largely concentrated within dedicated fan communities and those interested in the cultural revitalization of the pilgrimage route, functioning as a collectible artifact that documents a specific trend in promoting Japanese heritage through manga storytelling.
