Ohitori-sama Hotel #1

Ohitori-sama Hotel is a seinen manga series written by Matoba and illustrated by Manmaru, which began serialization in Akita Shoten's Manga Cross platform. The series explores the concept of 'solitude luxury,' focusing on the protagonist's experiences as she patronizes high-end hotels alone to savor the tranquility and indulgence of solo travel. The narrative serves as a meditative look at the growing cultural trend of solo activities in Japan, often referred to as ohitorisama, which centers on the personal empowerment and enjoyment found in self-reliance.

The design and artistic direction of the first issue focus on capturing the aesthetic appeal of upscale hospitality, balancing detailed architectural renderings with intimate character-focused panels. Manmaru’s art style is characterized by clean lines and an emphasis on atmospheric lighting, intended to immerse the reader in the quiet atmosphere of the hotels depicted. Since its debut, the series has been noted for its calm, episodic storytelling that emphasizes self-care and the sensory details of premium hotel environments, appealing to readers who appreciate slice-of-life narratives with a polished, escapist tone.
