Ojōsama, Zange Suru. #1

Ojōsama, Zange Suru. #1 is the inaugural volume of a manga series written and illustrated by Hiyori Kurata. It emerged from the thriving landscape of contemporary Japanese seinen manga, which frequently explores the intersection of social satire and character-driven comedy. The series focuses on the humorous attempts of a wealthy, high-status young woman—an ojou-sama—as she navigates the challenges of commoner life and strives to repent for her perceived arrogance.

Kurata’s design and illustrative style lean into the contrast between the protagonist's opulent background and her earnest, often clumsy efforts to integrate into a more modest environment. The series was met with interest for its lighthearted take on class differences and its focus on the protagonist's internal growth, establishing a tone that balances comedic tropes with a genuine sense of warmth.
