Where it came from
Professor Xavier and the X-Men was a 1995 series published by Marvel Comics, intended to retell and expand upon the early history of the original X-Men team. It was conceived during a period when Marvel sought to revisit its foundational stories through the lens of modern readers, offering a slightly more contemporary aesthetic while maintaining the emotional core of the original Stan Lee and Jack Kirby run.
The series featured cover art and interior work designed to honor the Silver Age roots of the franchise. It was received as a nostalgic project, providing context to the X-Men's earliest training sessions at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. The series is largely noted for its function as an accessible gateway for new readers to understand the complex interpersonal dynamics that defined the team's initial iteration.
