Queen & Country #10

Queen & Country, issue 10, was published in 2002 as part of the third story arc, 'Operation: Crystal Ball.' Created by Greg Rucka, the series is a grounded, procedural espionage thriller centered on the personnel of the Special Operations Section of the British Secret Intelligence Service. The series emerged during a period of renewed interest in realistic spy fiction, focusing on the bureaucratic and moral complexities of modern intelligence gathering rather than gadget-driven spectacle.

The issue features artwork by Leandro Fernández, whose gritty, minimalist style was instrumental in defining the series' stark aesthetic. The design and narrative approach sought to emphasize the isolation and professional toll experienced by protagonist Tara Chace. Upon its release, the series was well-regarded by critics for its technical accuracy and character-driven storytelling, cementing Rucka's reputation for writing taut, realistic suspense within the comic book medium.
