Real Fact Comics #5

Real Fact Comics was launched by DC Comics in 1946 as an educational anthology series, reflecting the post-World War II cultural shift toward non-fiction and informative media for younger readers. The title sought to capitalize on the success of educational publications by presenting historical events, biographies, and scientific curiosities in the accessible, illustrated format of the comic book, which was then enjoying its Golden Age popularity.

The fifth issue, released in late 1946, followed the standard editorial approach of the series by balancing serious historical recountings with more lighthearted features. While DC was synonymous with superheroes, the creative teams behind Real Fact Comics aimed for a pedagogical tone, utilizing house artists and writers who were tasked with maintaining historical accuracy while adhering to the visual constraints of the medium. The series was met with moderate critical interest but struggled to compete with the rising dominance of superhero and crime genres, leading to its eventual conclusion in 1949.
