Reina to 9-Nin no Otoko-tachi #1

Reina to 9-Nin no Otoko-tachi, or Reina and the Nine Men, debuted in the late 1960s as a significant example of the shōjo manga explosion occurring in Japan at the time. This issue marks the beginning of a narrative exploring themes of romance, identity, and complex social dynamics, which were becoming staples of the genre as artists began to push beyond traditional domestic storytelling to experiment with more layered character work.

The series is noted for its visual style that aligns with the aesthetic transitions of the era, focusing on expressive character design and panel layouts that emphasize emotional interiority. While the specific production details for the inaugural issue reflect the standard high-volume publishing model of 1960s manga periodicals, the work remains a point of interest for collectors tracking the evolutionary trajectory of the shōjo medium and the stylistic influences that would define the following decade.
