Roberto Alcázar y Pedrín #57

Roberto Alcázar y Pedrín debuted in 1941, created by artist Eduardo Vañó and writer Juan Bautista Puerto, and quickly became a cultural staple of post-Civil War Spain. As one of the most prolific adventure comic series of the era, it followed the exploits of the titular detective and his young assistant, functioning as a quintessential example of the pulp-adventure aesthetic that dominated Spanish kiosco culture for decades.

Issue 57 is characteristic of the series' mid-period run, reflecting the rigid narrative style and bold, stark black-and-white linework that defined Vañó’s approach. While the stories were often criticized for their simplistic morality and conservative undertones, the series remains highly regarded by collectors today as a vital historical artifact of mid-20th-century Spanish popular literature and a foundational work in the development of the country's comic medium.
